A rotator cuff tear is a partial or full thickness separation in the muscle or tendinous tissue of any of the four rotator cuff muscles (supraspinatus, subscapularis, infraspinatus, teres minor) which run from the shoulder blade (scapula) to the humerus (upper arm bone).
